Ethos

Naturopathic care can use herbal medicine, nutrition, practitioner-only supplements, and lifestyle recommendations to support your journey to optimal and improvement health and wellbeing. Naturopaths may aid chronic and acute conditions

What is naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a holistic approach to healthcare that honors your body's innate wisdom to heal when given the right support. Rooted in "vis medicatrix naturae", or "the healing power of nature", naturopathy works with your body, not against it, addressing the underlying causes of illness rather than masking symptoms.

This is healthcare that sees you as whole. Naturopathy at Kindred Roots weaves together clinical research in herbal medicine and nutrition with the energetic qualities of plant medicine and the vital force within you. It honours the mind-body connection, recognising that physical symptoms often speak to deeper imbalances, emotional, spiritual, or environmental. Through modalities like herbal medicine, clinical nutrition, practitioner-only supplements, and lifestyle support, treatment becomes a conversation between science and intuition, evidence and experience.

Naturopathy emphasises prevention and empowerment. It's about understanding your body's language, making informed choices, and building sustainable practices that nurture vitality. Whether you're managing a chronic condition, seeking to optimise your health, or longing to feel more connected to yourself, naturopathic care offers a gentle path that respects both long-held traditional healing wisdom and modern clinical understanding.

Your health journey is unique, and so is the care you receive, a partnership rooted in listening, understanding, and walking alongside you as you return to balance.

Who I am

I'm Madi, a degree-qualified (BNatMed) naturopath, clinical nutritionist, medical herbalist, and the founder of Kindred Roots: a practice born from my own healing journey and deep connection with the natural world.

My path to naturopathy began long before my degree in Natural Medicine. It started with herbal teas and bath salts, and the gradual integration of connecting to the earth into my daily life. Through nutrition, herbal support, and lifestyle shifts, I found my way through anxiety and hormonal dysregulation, not through quick fixes, but through gentle, sustained attention to my whole self. This personal experience taught me that true healing asks us to look deeper, to listen closely, and to honour the intricate connections between body, mind, and spirit.

Growing up near the wild west coast of Muriwai, I learned early that nature holds profound medicine. Beach walks with rough waves crashing became my clearing practice, the ocean's energy washing away what no longer served, creating space for what wanted to emerge. This relationship with the land, with the elements, shaped my understanding that we are not separate from nature but intimately woven into it.

My practice reflects this integration. I weave clinical research with the energetic wisdom of plants, honouring both what science shows us and what traditional medicine has known for generations. The mind-body connection isn't just a concept in my work, it's a foundation. I believe that when we support the body with the right nutrients and herbs while tending to our emotional landscape and lifestyle rhythms, lasting transformation flourishes.

Working with me means being seen as whole. It means a partnership where your story matters, where we take time to understand not just your symptoms but the roots beneath them. Whether you're navigating hormonal shifts, seeking support for anxiety, or simply wanting to feel more vital and connected, I'm here to walk alongside you, offering evidence-informed care infused with presence, intuition, and deep respect for your unique journey.

  • Health doesn't exist in isolation. We are deeply interconnected beings, connected to our bodies, our emotions, our environment, and each other. Meaningful wellbeing emerges when these connections are nurtured and honoured.

Connection to self means listening to your body's wisdom, understanding the dialogue between your physical symptoms and emotional landscape, and recognising that body, mind, and soul are not separate but intimately woven together. Connection to others reminds us that healing happens in relationship, that being seen, heard, and held matters. Connection to nature grounds us in the rhythms and cycles that our bodies instinctively recognise.

During my studies, particularly in my final year surrounded by a warm community of fellow practitioners-in-training, I deeply felt how powerful connection truly is. We don't heal in isolation. We heal in kinship, in community, in the presence of those who see us wholly

  • Surface symptoms are invitations to look deeper. At Kindred Roots, we don't simply address what's presenting, we explore the underlying patterns, imbalances, and root causes that have allowed illness or disharmony to take hold.

This might mean examining nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, chronic stress patterns, or lifestyle factors that have accumulated over time. It means asking not just "what are your symptoms?" but "what is your body trying to tell you?" Root cause care is patient, thorough, and honours that lasting healing takes time.

Going to the roots also means honouring where we come from, the wisdom passed down through generations, the traditional uses of plant medicine, and the understanding that our bodies carry stories. While we may not always trace every thread, we hold space for the depth and complexity of your whole story.

  • Kindred Roots is where connection intertwines with deep exploration. It's a practice rooted in clinical knowledge and energetic wisdom, in evidence and intuition, in science and soul. It's care that sees you as whole, honours your unique journey, and walks alongside you as you return to balance. Kindred Roots means to be held in connection, grounded in the roots.
